The Worthing Foodbank is run by Jubilee Church and provides emergency food for people in crisis.
The Foodbank, which has been running for several years, is an initiative designed to help individuals and families in crisis by providing free emergency food until such time as the appropriate agencies are in a position to assist. This project, pioneered by the Trussell Trust, is also operating in other towns and cities in the UK, helping thousands of people in need.
The Foodbank works with over 80 agencies including Citizens Advice Bureau; Connexions; South Down Housing; Addaction; Women’s Aid; Information Shop for Young People and Social Services.
Foodbank uses CORNERSTONE METHODIST CHURCH & ST. STEPHENS CAFE CHURCH to distribute the food. We have 2 Worthing Foodbank centres:-
CORNERSTONE METHODIT CHURCH IS LOCATED at the corner of Brighton road and Steyne Gardens, BN11 3EA. We distribute food to clients (who have a voucher from an agency) from 2pm till 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. During this time a team of WORTHING FOODBANK volunteers will be at the centre.
ST.STEPHEN CAFE CHURCH IS LOCATED at 37, Angola road, Worthing, BN14 8DU.
We distribute food to clients (who have a voucher from an agency) from 12noon - 1.30pm on Monday & Friday (2 Days). During this time a team of WORTHING FOODBANK volunteers will be at the centre.
Please note the churches do not run the projects.
A voucher will be exchanged for the 3 day food supply and volunteers are available for a friendly chat over a drink.
Sign posting for further help will be offered, including debt counselling, advocacy, and more.
It's easy to get involved as an individual or as a group. It's a great way for churches, schools, work places and activity groups to work together to help those in the community who are in need.
